Design That Fits the Character of Where You Live

The Cowichan Valley has a distinctive character. Heritage homes in Duncan, rural properties in the valley, and newer builds closer to the water each come with their own set of decisions and possibilities.

My approach is to work with what makes a home particular to where it sits. I develop layouts, materials, lighting and finishes that feel considered, practical and appropriate to the architecture, setting and way you live.

From there, I help bring clarity to the decisions, organize the design details, and create a cohesive direction that can be carried forward into renovation or implementation.

Interior Design may Include:

  • Space planning & functional layouts

  • Material, finish & colour selections

  • Cabinetry & built-in design

  • Lighting & fixture direction

  • Furniture selection & placement

  • Healthier, durable material options

Optional implementation support is available as your project moves into construction, purchasing and installation.

Our Design Process

My process is designed to bring clarity early, so your project feels considered and manageable from the beginning. Each phase builds toward a cohesive design that supports how you live, your priorities, and the realities of implementation.

Phase 1: Direction

We begin by understanding how you live, what isn’t working, what you want your home to feel like, and which decisions matter most. This phase establishes priorities, scope, budget considerations, and a clear overall direction.

This phase may include:

  • Project goals & priorities

  • Existing space review

  • Budget and scope discussion

  • Style & inspiration direction

  • Clear next steps

Phase 2: Design & Specification

With a clear direction in place, I develop the layouts, materials, finishes, lighting, cabinetry, furnishings and other design details needed to create a cohesive home. We refine the design together before decisions are finalized.

This phase focuses on:

  • Space planning & layouts

  • Material & finish selections

  • Colour & lighting direction

  • Cabinetry & built-in design

  • Furniture selection & placement

  • Drawings & specifications, where applicable

Phase 3: Support Through Execution

Once the design is complete, you can move forward independently or continue working with me for additional implementation support. As your project moves into purchasing, construction and installation, I can help answer design questions, coordinate details and protect the intent of the design as decisions arise.

Optional support may include:

  • Contractor & trade communication

  • Procurement and delivery coordination

  • Site visits and design questions

  • Installation reviews

  • Furniture placement & final styling

Design That Feels Calm, Not Rushed

The Cowichan Valley has a quality of life that homeowners here tend to protect. My approach is centred on helping design decisions reflect the way you actually want to live, not just what looked good in a showroom.

By focusing on clarity early and maintaining consistency throughout the project, I help create homes that feel calm, functional, and aligned with how you live day to day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes working with Earth’s Home Design different?2026-09-03T01:11:37+00:00

My approach goes beyond making a home look beautiful. I consider how the space functions, how materials perform over time, where your investment will make the greatest difference, and how design choices can support a healthier, more comfortable home. The goal is to bring clarity to the process so your finished space feels intentional rather than pieced together.

Can you work with my existing contractor?2026-09-03T01:12:29+00:00

Yes. If you already have a contractor, builder, cabinet company or trades involved, I’m happy to collaborate with them. My role is to provide a clear design direction and documentation, answer design-related questions, and help keep decisions aligned with the overall vision as the project moves forward.

How early in a renovation should I get in touch?2026-09-03T01:12:59+00:00

As early as possible. Having the design direction, layouts and key selections in place before construction begins can help prevent rushed decisions and costly changes later. If your renovation is already underway, I can also provide focused design support for decisions that still need to be made.

Do you handle both the design and the project management?2026-09-03T01:14:01+00:00

My primary role is interior design. I develop the layouts, selections, drawings and design direction needed for your project. Once the design is complete, you can move forward independently with your contractor or continue working with me for optional implementation and project coordination support, billed separately as needed.

This may include contractor communication, procurement coordination, site visits, installation reviews and design questions that arise during construction.

What kinds of homes do you work on in the Cowichan Valley?2026-09-03T01:14:40+00:00

I work on a range of residential projects throughout the Cowichan Valley, including character and heritage homes, rural properties, newer builds and residential renovations. Each project is approached in a way that respects the character of the home, its setting and how you want to live in it.

Where is Earth’s Home Design located?2026-09-03T01:16:27+00:00
